Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action against Sheffield United in today’s Premier League clash at the Spurs Stadium.
Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently level at 0-0 despite having dominated possession.
Guglielmo Vicario: Saved well with his feet from McAtee before the offside flag went up. 6.
Pedro Porro: With most of the play having been down the left, his involvement has been limited in the opposition half. Nearly got on the of Maddison’s lobbed pass just before the break. 6.
Cristian Romero: Two goals already this season. Headed over from a corner in the first fifteen minutes. 7.
Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman is looking more and more assured alongside Romero with every game, apart from a nervy pass just before the half time whistle which cost his side a corner. 6.
Destiny Udogie: Has looked comfortable down the left, tucking in on occasion to help join in Tottenham’s attacking play 7.
Pape Matar Sarr: Had an early shot on goal but was an easy save for Foderingham. Nearly had another opportunity on a quarter of an hour but could not connect correctly with his header from eight yards out 8.
Yves Bissouma: Went on a driving run to create space on the left-hand side of the box but saw his shot saved by the keeper. Has looked assured on the ball once more with some nice interlink play with Sarr, especially. 8.
James Maddison: Drove forward well with the ball on 22 minutes, but could have done with taking a couple more touches after his shot lacked power. All the play in the final third has mostly gone through August’s Premier League Player of the Month. Should have had a penalty when Chris Basham clipped his ankle in the box. 8.
Dejan Kulusevski: Played a nice floated cross into the penalty area which unfortunately was a inch too high for Sarr. Has looked hungry for the ball down the right and more energetic than the end of last season highlighted by when he put in another lung-busting shift to chase down keeper Wes Foderingham and almost caught him out 7.
Heung-min Son: Curled a shot with his right which Foderingham pushed behind. 6.
Manor Solomon: Went close after he drove across the edge of the area with a jinking run only to see Foderingham save down to his right. Played a nice cross which Son couldn’t connect his header fully with. 7.
