According to Sport, Barcelona are ready to sell Ansu Fati permanently next summer, with Tottenham being one of the clubs following the player’s situation closely.

During the final few days of the summer transfer window, there were some suggestions that Spurs could win the race for Fati (Sky Sports), but the Barcelona star eventually ended up joining Brighton on a season-long loan, with the North London club snapping up Brennan Johnson instead.

Fati has made a promising start to his spell at the Amex Stadium, having scored three times for the Seagulls so far across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

Ansu Fati to be put up for sale by Barcelona

If Sport’s latest update is to be believed, Barcelona ‘need to sell’ the Spain international next summer, due to their ongoing financial issues, with clubs across European football said to be queuing up for the player.

This includes Spurs and Chelsea, who are now both allegedly on ‘red alert’ after hearing about the development.

The report adds that Fati will ‘listen to proposals’ for a permanent move away from Camp Nou next summer and that the 21-year-old ‘believes’ that several ‘important clubs’ could bid for him next year if he does well at Brighton.

The publication reveals that several Saudi Arabian clubs are also keeping tabs on the La Masia graduate.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Tottenham pulled out of the race for Fati’s signature this summer because of the fact that Barca only sanctioned a straight loan without any option to buy. If the Catalan club do decide to sell the 21-year-old permanently, I expect Spurs to vie for his signature.
