Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action in this evening’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Ange Postecoglou’s side head into the break currently level at 0-0 after failing to pose any real threat to opening the scorin.
Guglielmo Vicario: Tested early on by Ayew, but palmed the ball to safety at his near post. His reactions moments later were even better. 6.
Pedro Porro: Apart from a couple of decent passes has not played to his usual recent standard. Turned too easily by Ayew near the touchline. 5.
Cristian Romero: A solid half from the World Cup winner. 7.
Micky van de Ven: Had to use his pace to snuff out a counter attack which saw Will Hughes clear on goal. 7.
Ben Davies: Making his first Premier League start of the season in place of the injured Destiny Udogie, has tucked in at times and also seen van de Ven bail out his lack of pace. Needs to start winning his aerial duels. 5.
Pape Matar Sarr: Looked set to cross the ball into the penalty area and completely missed the ball, has been looking to take possession and get the ball forward. 6.
Yves Bissouma: Pulled rank on Maddison to take a free-kick and his effort went high into the stand behind. Has broke the lines a couple of times but is quickly surrounded by Palace players. 6.
James Maddison: Would have been disappointed not to have been able to pick out Son in Spurs’ first counter attack. A half-chance fell to him from a Richarlison knock down and he could not get the volley under control 6.
Dejan Kulusevski: Has not been able to threaten down the right with any purpose. 5.
Heung-min Son: The game has not been played to his strengths which has limited his impact. 5.
Richarlison: Did well to keep the ball in play to head back into the path for Maddison’s chance. Linked up well with Maddison down the left to create an opportunity for himself but snatched at the shot which went the wrong side of the post. 6.
