According to a report in to Spanish news outlet Defensa Central, rumoured Tottenham target Kalvin Phillips has been offered to Real Madrid.

Phillips has struggled to get regular game time since his switch from Leeds United to Manchester City last year and it has been widely reported over the last month that the player is seeking an exit from the Etihad Stadium in January.

This includes an update from Football Transfers on October 10, which stated that Tottenham are ‘really keen’ on winning the race for the midfielder, who has made his mind up to seek a new club.

Over the last couple of weeks, it has emerged that Bayern Munich (90 min) and Newcastle United (TEAMtalk) also hold an interest in the England international.

Real Madrid now a potential contender for Phillips

If Defensa Central’s update is to be believed, Phillips representatives have now contacted Los Blancos and offered them a chance to sign their client when the transfer window opens.

However, it is explained that Manchester City would want £50m for the 27-year-old, which is likely to prove a stumbling block as the La Liga giants have no interest in paying that sort of fee for the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Phillips ticks a lot of boxes for Tottenham as a potential Hojbjerg replacement, given his Premier League experience, price range, technical profile and homegrown status.

If Postecoglou is indeed keen on landing the midfielder, I believe that the Australian would be able to persuade the player about a move to Spurs.
