October is over, and Tottenham Hotspur have ended the month at the top of the Premier League table. Suffice it to say it’s been a good month for the Lilywhites, which is reflected by the fact three of their players have been named in WhoScored‘s Team of the Month.
Ange Postecoglou has implemented his attacking style of football very quickly since arriving in North London this summer, and results on the pitch have been just as impressive as the Australian’s management style.
Spurs picked up three wins from three games in October, defeating Luton Town 1-0 before the international break, and then beating Fulham 2-0 and Crystal Palace 2-1 in the last week.
With clean sheets, dominant football, and maximum points on the board, it’s no surprise three Tottenham players were selected for WhoScored.com’s Premier League Team of the Month for October.
Who made the Team of the Month?
Guglielmo Vicario now has more clean sheets than any other Premier League goalkeeper, adding two to his tally in October. WhoScored put the Italian between the sticks, and gave him an average rating of 7.12 for the month.
In front of Vicario, Cristian Romero has put in a string of solid displays, and looks far more composed than he did last season. The addition of Micky van de Ven alongside him has certainly helped, but it’s the Argentinian centre-half who gets the nod with an average score of 7.58.
Finally, leading the line is Spurs captain Heung-min Son, who racked up an average rating of 7.68. The South Korean star bagged two goals and provided an assist during October’s three games (Transfermarkt).
Spurs Web Opinion
The whole Spurs team have been fantastic over the last month, and have shown a more resilient and hard-working side to their game which has helped them grind out some difficult wins. There is an argument to be made for other players to have made the Team of the Month, but let’s not be greedy.
