Spurs winger Heung-Min Son has become the first player this season, and Tottenham’s second ever, to win the Premier League player of the month twice in the same season.
Son picks up the award following a tantalising spell of form which saw him score 5 goals in 4 successive matches and chipping in with a further two assists. When speaking to PremierLeague.com he said:
“It’s an unbelievable feeling – I’m very thankful for my team-mates, for the staff, and for the fans who voted for me”
“”This is not my finish line. I want to keep working hard and win it a third time. I’m still hungry.”
Son signed for Tottenham in the Summer of 2015 and the 24 year old became the first Asian player to win the award in September, and his hunger to win the award has been repaid again, claiming April’s award. Previous, in the 2014/15 season, Harry Kane was the only Spurs player ever to win the award twice in the same season. Son has been able to build on his debut season in the Premier League having already scored 3x more goals and earned 5x the amount of assists with 3 games still left to play.
Tottenham completed a double for the month of April, with the manager of the month award going to Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino.
