Son Heung-min has admitted that seeing Rodrigo Bentancur return to action made him quite emotional as the Uruguayan was the one who pushed him when he had his own injury issues last year.
Bentancur returned to action ahead of schedule, with Ange Postecoglou surprising fans by first naming the midfielder on the bench at Selhurst Park before bringing him on in the 90th minute.
The midfielder’s return is a major boost to Spurs and now gives the Australian another world-class option in the middle of the park.
Bentancur is quite a popular member in the changing room, which was evident by the players’ reactions after the final whistle, with many pushing him to the front so that the Uruguayan could take in the accolades from the travelling Spurs supporters on Friday night.

The midfielder took to Instagram after the game to thank those who supported him during the last eight months and admitted that he is looking forward to enjoying his football again.
When asked about Bentancur’s return, Son has now said (via George Sessions): “When he came on I was getting emotional. He is one of my good friends and last year when I suffer with injuries, he was always pushing behind me. I am really grateful he came back healthy.”

This sort of empathy and care for his teammates is what makes Son the perfect modern-day captain. Having a leader like this will undoubtedly foster a feeling of humility and togetherness in the changing room.
