Paul Merson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Liverpool tomorrow evening.
Ange Postecoglou’s side host the Reds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with both teams boasting an unbeaten record in the top flight so far this season, with Spurs having shown great determination in recent weeks to battle back against both Sheffield United and Arsenal to avoid suffering defeat.
Merson believes that this is a fixture that both sides could win but has instead backed the points to be shared in North London.
Heung-min Son has certainly stepped up to the role of playing Tottenham’s central striking role following the departure of Harry Kane with the South Korean having netted a brace at the Emirates last time out to take his tally in the league to five for the season (transfermarkt).
Can Spurs end Liverpool’s run of form?
He told SportsKeeda: “Liverpool need to stop going behind, it’s happened too many times already this season. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve been fantastic so far this season and have produced some impressive comebacks to win games from losing positions, but I don’t know if they can keep doing that, especially against the top teams.
“Jurgen Klopp’s side are playing well, but they are also riding their luck on some level. They have enough firepower to overwhelm teams, but they are letting in too many goals for my liking.
“I’ve been impressed with Tottenham, especially after their performance against Arsenal last weekend. They showed a lot of composure and maturity to level the scoreline twice in a tricky away game and have a lot of pace and guile on the counterattack.
“This is a good game where anyone could win, but I’m going for a 2-2 draw. If I had to pick a winner, I’d pick Spurs. Dominik Szoboszlai has been absolutely outstanding, how has everybody else missed out on him? Similarly, James Maddison has done bits for Tottenham since signing for the club, the manager has done really well to get him going immediately.
“Prediction: Tottenham 2-2 Liverpool”

A point against a Liverpool side who have not lost in the Premier League in their last 17 outings would be a respectable result, however, Ange Postecoglou certainly isn’t the type of manager who will sit back and churn out a draw, which would have been the instance under both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
