Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Arsenal which takes place tomorrow afternoon.
Last time out, Lawrenson predicted that Tottenham would run out 3-0 winners at home to Sheffield United, when in fact, it ended up as a last-gasp victory for Ange Postecoglou’s side with two goals in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory over the Blades.
Spurs head its the weekend second in the Premier League table on 13 points, the same number as their North London rivals with both teams having won four and drawn on of their opening give top flight fixtures this season.
Can Spurs beat Arsenal in the North London derby?
Ange Postecoglou could become the first Spurs manager to register an away win in his first North London derby since Peter Shreeves, whose side won at Highbury on New Year’s Day in 1985, however, the Emirates has not been a happy hunting ground for Tottenham over recent years.
Last season, there were a massive 24 points between second-placed Arsenal and Tottenham, after Spurs’ season fell to pieces in the second half of the campaign and they will be eager to secure the bragging rights under their Australian head coach.
Lawrenson told PaddyPower: “I fancy Arsenal here. They dispatched of PSV easily and could have beaten Everton by a far greater scoreline than the 1-0.
“Tottenham felt like they’d won the FA Cup with that late, late win over Sheffield United. You know this is always going to be tight but I just think Arsenal will have too much for them.
“Arsenal 2-0 Tottenham.”
