Ryan Sessegnon has admitted that he is devastated to pick up yet another hamstring injury and thanked the fans for their kind messages over the last 24 hours.
Injuries have prevented Sessegnon from fulfilling his potential at Tottenham, with the youngster spending a number of spells on the sidelines since making the switch to the club back in 2019.
Last season was no different, with the 23-year-old missing the final 19 matches of the season after picking up a hamstring injury at the start of February while Antonio Conte was still in charge of Tottenham.
The former Fulham man would have been hoping to hit the ground running in pre-season and impress Ange Postecoglou but that was not to be after Spurs confirmed on Tuesday that the left-sided player had undergone surgery on a hamstring injury which he sustained during training earlier this week.
Sessegnon admits he’s devastated with hamstring injury
Alasdair Gold explained yesterday that Sessesgnon had been doing everything to avoid going under the knife but eventually had no choice but to do so.
The left wing-back has now taken to social media to insist that despite his most recent setback, he remains motivated to work his way back to fitness and prove himself.
Sessegnon posted on his Instagram story: “Devastated & not really sure what to say right now, but I wanted to come on here & say thank you for all the kind messages I’ve received.
“Hopefully this provides a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel very hungry & motivated to return stronger than ever & be back to doing what I do best, for you guys.
“Thank you, Sess.”

Whatever you may think of Sessegnon as a player, you cannot help but feel heartbroken for the 23-year-old on a human level. His body has repeatedly let him down and robbed him of any chance to build momentum over the course of his Spurs career.
