Don Hutchinson has raved about the performance of rumoured Tottenham target Yves Bissouma in Brighton’s 3-1 loss to Spurs in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Bissouma has established himself as a mainstay in the Seagulls midfield over the last couple of years and his displays have won him many admirers across the Premier League.

He was rumoured to be one of the options on Tottenham’s radar in the January transfer window, with The Daily Mail claiming during the final days that Spurs were battling the likes of Man Utd and Aston Villa for the 25-year-old’s signature.

However, the midfielder ended up staying put at the Amex Stadium and he was back in action for Graham Potter’s men on Saturday after returning from the African Cup of Nations.

The Mali international was Brighton’s best player at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and it was his deflected effort in the second half that brought the away side back into the encounter.

Speaking after Tottenham’s 3-1 win in the fourth round, Hutchison told BBC Sport about the midfielder: “The best player on the pitch by an absolute mile, Yves Bissouma. He’s been absolutely sensational.”

Bissouma is arguably good enough to get into any Premier League team barring Manchester City.

The fact that he would come with PL experience means that he would be able to improve teams straight away rather than taking time to settle in.

Given that his contract expires in 2023 (Transfermarkt), he is unlikely to be too expensive in the summer.

However, one would expect all the big clubs in England to go after the 25-year-old. So, Paratici will have his work cut out to win the race for the Brighton star.
