We all know Yves Bissouma is having a fantastic season so far. Better yet, it seems the Tottenham Hotspur man is actually registering statistics that no other player in Europe’s top five leagues has managed this season.

When Yves Bissouma signed for Spurs last summer in a reported £25m deal (The Athletic), it got the tongues of the Lilywhites’ supporters wagging at the prospect of such a dynamic midfielder joining the club.

However, in the 2022/23 campaign, Bissouma failed to live up to the standards he had previously set at Brighton. In fact, the Mali international actively struggled to perform within Antonio Conte‘s system.

His progress was not helped by injury issues throughout the season, either. But now, Bissouma is fit and firing on all cylinders.

It seems new manager Ange Postecoglou is getting the best out of his player now, as Bissouma has been a standout star for the North London side in their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign.

Yves Bissouma is at the top of his game

In fact, Bissouma has been so good for Spurs so far, that he leads the way in various areas when it comes to comparing him to players in Europe.

According to Squawka, “Yves Bissouma is the only player in Europe’s big-five leagues so far this season with: 10+ interceptions, 10+ tackles made, and 10+ take-ons completed.”

Bissouma, or BOSSouma, as Squawka have nicknamed him, has actually made 11 interceptions, 16 tackles, and completed 11 take-ons this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

What a start to the season it has been for Bissouma. He is the beating heart of the Spurs midfield right now, and his hard work there is certainly helping James Maddison in giving him the freedom to roam forward the way he does.

It will be interesting to see if Bissouma can keep this up all year. If he does, I suspect he will be mentioned among the very best in the league, if not Europe, come the end of the year.
