Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to link up with Tottenham on Thursday but will not be able to train with his new teammates until his work permit is granted, according to the Evening Standard.
Bentancur was signed by Spurs from Juventus on deadline day in a deal worth €19 million with a further €6 million in potential add-ons (The Guardian).
The 24-year-old is currently on international duty with Uruguay and scored within 60 seconds to help his side beat Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier last night.
However, the Evening Standard report Bentancur has to be present in the United Kingdom to be given the green light over his work permit.
As such, the current situation will not allow him to take part in training, which also makes him unlikely to earn a starting role for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Brighton.
But the report also states that Tottenham’s second deadline day acquisition and Bentancur’s former Juve teammate Dejan Kulusevski, who arrived in London on Sunday, could be granted his permit on Wednesday.

Spurs Web Opinion
It will take a bit of time for both Bentancur and Kulusevski to settle in so maybe the Brighton game might come too quickly for the former. They should hopefully give Antonio Conte some more options this season and with injured players starting to come back it will boost the club’s chances of ending the campaign strongly.
