The Evening Standard have reported that Tottenham midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur, will likely be out for seven months after undergoing surgery on his ruptured cruciate ligament.
This comes after the Uruguayan picked up the injury against Leicester City in the recent 4-1 defeat, despite opening the scoring for the Lilywhites in that very same game.
The Standard now report that Tottenham are eyeing a September return for their midfield star, who has been one of the standout players under Antonio Conte since joining last January.
Sky Sports reported earlier today that Bentancur is not expected to return to the football pitch until November at the earliest. Therefore, the Standard seem to be offering a more positive outlook on the midfielder’s situation.
Whatever the case, Tottenham will miss their midfield creator, especially with Yves Bissouma also currently sidelined through injury.
Spurs Web Opinion:
Everyone at The Spurs Web would like to wish Rodrigo a speedy recovery. Hopefully, Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr can continue to impress in his absence and this can be the making of them. Once Bentancur returns, the Spurs midfield could be stronger than ever.
