Antonio Conte has claimed that Yves Bissouma is now ‘out for the rest of the season’ following the ankle injury he picked up back in February (Football London).

Alasdair Gold reported on February 13th that Bissouma was expected to be out for seven to eight weeks, but it appears the Spurs boss expects that timeline to extend much further.

Conte has already suggested in the past that Bissouma may not be called upon for the rest of the campaign, just like fellow midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur (Football London).

However, the Italian has now come out and confirmed the extent of Bissouma’s injury by stating he will not be seen again this season.

Despite this, Dan Kilpatrick revealed soon after Conte’s original prognosis that Tottenham as a club are more optimistic about Bissouma’s return.

Fast forward almost a month since the injury was first reported, it appears Conte is still not confident he will manage Bissouma again – with the Italian thought to be on the way out in the summer.

Conte said (Football London): “We facing a difficult situation also with the injuries – important players that stay out. Lloris, Bentancur, Sessegnon is out, Bissouma is out for the rest of the season.

“If we undervalue this situation… I think that in every moment, we have to try to create the right atmosphere to help the team, to help the players.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Tottenham seemingly had a positive transfer window in the summer, but it really hasn’t worked out for any of the new signings. Bissouma and Richarlison in particular have been so unlucky with injuries, which has made it hard for them to break into the side.
