Joe Rodon will have important decisions to make this summer about his future, and Wales boss Robert Page has offered an insight into what the player will prioritise if given the choice.
Since joining Tottenham in 2020, Rodon has barely been given a chance in the first team at Spurs. He has just 24 appearances for the Lilywhites during his time in North London (Transfermarkt).
The Welshman spent the 2022/23 campaign in France on loan at Stade Rennais. Despite a promising start to his time in Ligue 1, Rodon ended up making only 22 appearances for Rennes, and was only used twice in the final 15 games of the season (Transfermarkt).
It will come as no surprise, then, that Rennes have not taken up the option to sign Rodon on a permanent basis after his loan spell came to an end.
Now back at Tottenham Hotspur for the summer, and with a new manager to impress, it remains to be seen whether Joe Rodon will be part of Ange Postecoglou‘s plans or not.
Joe Rodon will want to play week in, week out
Speaking to The Sun about his international player, Wales boss Robert Page insisted that Rodon will be looking for regular first-team football next season even if it means leaving Spurs.
He said: “He will want to play games because I know him as a character. He’ll want to play week in, week out. That’s up to the club now.
“I’d imagine he will do a pre-season there and then they will make a decision on what’s best for him next year. If we can have a little bit of input in that then great.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Sadly, I can’t see Joe Rodon having a future at Tottenham. He is a good player but we already have better options at the club and should hopefully be signing at least one more high-quality centre-back this summer.
