Tottenham Hotspur’s Rodrigo Bentancur has been spotted in the gym as he continues his recovery from the ACL injury that ended his season, and he appears to be making good progress.
The Uruguayan midfielder was having an incredible season for Spurs, scoring six goals and contributing two assists in 26 appearances (Transfermarkt) before rupturing his cruciate ligament in the defeat to Leicester in February.
Bentancur had established himself as one of the most important players in the Spurs squad, and has been sorely missed since his injury.
The 25-year-old underwent surgery on the injury in the immediate aftermath (Evening Standard). Reports suggest Bentancur will miss the rest of this campaign, and will likely be out until November (Sky Sports).
Just last week, the club shared a photo on Twitter revealing Bentancur had returned to the gym and was ‘making progress.’ The photo showed the player on the fitness bike, and looking pretty happy, too.
Now, the latest video from the club’s Twitter account shows Bentancur back on the bike again, being put through his paces by two of the squad’s fitness coaches.

Bentancur is obviously still a long way off his expected return date, but appears to be staying positive and putting the work in to get back to full fitness.
Despite being missing for the last two months, Bentancur was recently nominated for the Premier League Team of the Season for his efforts earlier in the campaign.
Spurs Web Opinion
I cannot wait to see Rodrigo Bentancur kicking a ball again for Tottenham Hotspur.
He became so integral to our team this season and that injury was incredibly cruel.
Let’s just hope it doesn’t impact his game in the future, as he was developing into one of the best midfielders in the league and I’d hate to see that progress hindered.
