Heung-Min Son is expected to face a lengthy spell out of football after breaking his arm on international duty with South Korea.
After just 34 minutes of play, Son was taken off after breaking his right forearm during South Korea’s crucial World Cup Qualifying match against Qatar, which they went on to lose 3-2.
Son is undoubtedly a key player for South Korea and the side now face the prospect of failing to automatically qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
According to The Korea Herald, surgery is ‘inevitable’ for the 24 year old, who will likely struggle to return to action in time for the start of Spurs’ pre-season on the 3rd of July.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino usually commands training of high intensity during the pre-season, so as to maintain as much fitness as possible ahead of the new season.
With Son missing up to a month of football, or more, it seems plausible that Son may fall behind in training and subsequently not be fully fit for the start of the season in August.
Any confirmation from the club on a date of return for Son is yet to be announced.
