Heung-Min Son, who recently underwent surgery after having broken his right forearm during South Korea’s 3-2 defeat to Qatar, is facing a lengthier spell on the side-lines than initially anticipated.
The 24 year old picked up the injury in an aerial duel with Mohammed Musa, and while the severity of the injury has been clear, the amount of football he’s going to miss has so far yet to be confirmed by the club.
However, The Times are now reporting that Son has been ruled out for as long as 3 months, which would mean the South Korean would miss Tottenham’s opening fixtures against Newcastle, Chelsea, Burnley, Everton and Swansea.
The forward is likely to face a 4 week recovery period before slowly rehabilitating into pre-season work, which would also result in Son missing South Korea’s key World Cup Qualifying fixtures against Iran and Uzbekistan, who may qualify at Korea’s expense.
Son scored 21 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions for Spurs last season and will be a huge miss, especially considering Son’s early season form in 2016.
If this is true, Spurs could possibly be without three key players when the season starts, with Danny Rose, Erik Lamela and Heung-Min Son all long term absentees.
