Alasdair Gold has claimed that Tottenham do not yet have an agreement with Wolfsburg for the transfer of Micky Van de Ven, despite some recent reports.

However, the journalist was keen to add that Spurs have ‘very strong interest’ in the Dutch defender and discussions have taken place – so it isn’t to say that a deal will not happen eventually.

Tottenham have not agreed a deal for Van de Ven yet

This comes after The Mirror reported today that Tottenham had reached an agreement with Wolfsburg to sign the centre-back for £30m this summer (17:55 in blog).

Mike Verweij, also reported today that Van de Ven had agreed personal terms with Spurs on a five-year deal that would run until 2028.

Fabrizio Romano said this week that Spurs are currently looking to sign Van de Ven or Edmond Tapsoba, but probably not both (AMP).

Spurs Web Opinion:

Gold is extremely trustworthy on this stuff so it appears a deal has not yet been reached. However, it does seem optimistic that Spurs will get Tapsoba or Van de Ven this summer.

Honestly, I hope they go for both because Tottenham need more than one good new centre-back option.
