Micky van de Ven has admitted that he has been blown away by Tottenham’s away support.
Tottenham have not had an easy start to the season, having played three of the first four Premier League games (four of five in all competitions) away from home.
As always, the travelling Spurs contingent have been in great voice in each of those fixtures, with the Micky van de Ven chant (sung in the same tune as the former Rafael Van der Vaart one) being heard quite frequently.
That is a testament to how well the Dutchman has settled in since his summer switch from Wolfsburg, with the 22-year-old looking imperious at the back alongside the more experienced Cristian Romero.
Not only has Van de Ven shown that he has the physicality to win duals but he has also displayed impressive recovery pace while his quality on the ball has already led to comparisons with Spurs legend Jan Vertonghen.
Micky Van de Ven feels what a big club Tottenham is
The centre-back has been rewarded for his displays with a first call-up to the Netherlands senior side and he has been speaking about the Tottenham fans to the media back in his country.
Van de Ven told NU:” Thousands of Spurs fans travel with us at an away match. Then you know that you are playing for a very big club. These are great weeks.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s away support has always been up there with the best in the Premier League and they always have their voices heard, even when the team is going through rough patches of form.
The club’s home support has tended to be a little more fickle over the last decade or so but on the evidence of Spurs’ first home game of the season against Man Utd, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is going to be an intimidating place for teams to come to this season.
