Micky van de Ven did not play a single minute for the Netherlands in their Euro qualifiers against Greece and the Republic of Ireland.
Van de Ven was a relative unknown to Premier League fans when he arrived from Wolfsburg in the summer on the back of an impressive debut campaign in the Bundesliga.

The Dutchman has surprised many with how quickly he has adapted to English football and to Ange Postecoglou’s system, having hardly put a foot wrong so far this season.
The 22-year-old was rewarded for his impressive start to the season with a first call-up to the senior Netherlands squad.
Postecoglou would have perhaps been nervous about the fitness of the Dutchman and Cristian Romero, given that he is not blessed with options at centre-back.

However, the Australian would have been relieved to see that Van de Ven had his feet up during the international break, having not seen any action in either of the two matches.
The former Wolfsburg star was not even named in the matchday squad for the Orange’s 3-0 win over Greece on Thursday and he was an unused substitute at the weekend as Ronald Koeman’s side came away with a 2-1 win from the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Van de Ven is the only Tottenham player to have started all five matches so far, having also featured in the Carabao Cup clash against Fulham. So, the 22-year-old needed a bit of rest and Postecoglou would be delighted that the centre-back would be fresh on his return to North London.
