Tottenham Hotspur could be searching for a new playmaker this summer if the reports surrounding Christian Eriksen are true (Daily Star)
Eriksen has just one year left on his contract, prompting reports that he may move to Real Madrid before the start of next season, with Spurs looking to cash in before he leaves on a free.
Tottenham haven’t purchased a single new player in over 16 months, so if the Great Dane were to leave, they would surely be in the market for a like-for-like replacement.
One man who would fit the bill is Leicester City and England ace James Maddison, who scored 7 and set up 7 in an impressive debut season in the Premier League. He also created more chances (100) for his team than any other Premier League player.
Maddison is said to be worth £60m in this market (Daily Mirror), with Tottenham, Liverpool, Man United and Man City all interested (talkSPORT).
However, Daily Record report that United have pulled ahead in the race for the playmaker.
Spurs Web Opinion:
It’s simple from my point of view. Get £70m for Eriksen from Madrid. Pay £55m or £60m for Maddison. Use the remainder to go towards another player who will push the club towards bigger and better things.
