With Christian Eriksen’s future at Totteham Hotspur still looking uncertain with the Dane no closer to signing a new contract with the club, Tottenham are reportedly looking for potential replacements of the 27-year-old midfielder.
One of the players Spurs have been linked with is Leicester City playmaker James Maddison (The Times), who has had a stellar first campaign in the Premier League after moving from Norwich City last summer.
The 22-year-old has scored 7 goals and set up 7 others in 36 Premier League appearances this season, and his performances have seen him earn rave reviews.
According to Opta Stats, Maddison created as many as 100 goalscoring chances for Leicester this campaign – more than any other player in the Premier League.
Former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas has said that he is not sure if the Englishman will get regular starts in North London.
However, the former England international suggested that Maddison’s Leicester teammate, Ben Chilwell, who has also been linked with Tottenham (The Telegraph ) would have no problems getting into Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Speaking to said on BBC Radio 5 live (May 10, 2019), Jenas said, “Ben Chilwell will start week in, week out, not sure Maddison will start week in, week out at Tottenham.”

While Maddison certainly doesn’t have enough quality to fill Eriksen’s shoes at the moment, he is still likely to improve as a player in the coming seasons.
Regardless of whether he is guaranteed to start every game, the 22-year-old will be a massive asset to the squad if Tottenham manage to land him in the summer.
However, Leicester are likely to demand a huge sum for the midfielder seeing how well he has played this year, which makes this transfer pretty unlikely to happen.
