According to the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (28/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness), Pape Mater Sarr would be a ‘dream’ addition for Salernitana in January.
Sarr has not had a single minute of action for Antonio Conte’s men so far this season and, unsurprisingly, reports over recent months indicate that Spurs are looking to loan out the former Metz man (Evening Standard).
El Chiringuito TV (22/12/22) reported last week that Sevilla had expressed interest in signing the 20-year-old on loan, with the La Liga club said to have made contact with the Lilywhites regarding the midfielder.
Reports of Salernitana’s interest in Sarr first emerged on Tuesday, with CalcioMercato claiming that the Serie A club have ‘initiated contacts’ over a deal for the Senegal international.
However, the publication explained that the operation will prove ‘complicated’ as several clubs have their eye on the Tottenham man.
Gazzetta have now backed up Salernitana’s interest in Sarr, with the report stating that the Italian club have identified the Spurs star and Fiorentina’s Szymon Zurkowski as the two potential options to bolster their midfield ranks.
The Italian outlet adds that the central midfielder would be Salernitana’s ‘dream’ for January but the youngster is also said to be on the radars of several French and Spanish clubs.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s priority would be to identify a club whose style of play would suit Sarr and somewhere that the midfielder would be a guaranteed regular starter. I personally would like to see the 20-year-old loaned out to a Championship club so that he can get accustomed to the demands of English football.
