Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been one of the hot topics of transfer deadline day.
The Dane was earlier in the day linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Fulham, but decided against a move to Craven Cottage (DailyMail).
The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel has taken to X this afternoon to reveal that Atletico Madrid are set to return for the former Southampton player with a loan plus obligation to buy deal.
Mobkel wrote: “Atletico Madrid to make a loan offer for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojberg, which includes an obligation to buy.”
Atletico Madrid continue to try for Hojbjerg deal
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano says that a loan with a buy clause is a complicated deal to pull off, as Atletico Madrid’s proposal has not met Tottenham’s expectations, but the La Liga club are still trying.
Hojbjerg has found himself down in the midfield pecking order under Ange Postecoglou this season behind the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and Oliver Skipp.

Atletico seems like the only likely destination for Hojbjerg given his reluctance to move to Fulham.
He showed again on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup fixture that he simply is not suited to Postecoglou’s style of play and his partnership with Skipp is simply not good enough when you compare it to what we have seen from Bissouma and Sarr in the opening three Premier League fixtures.
