Gleison Bremer has seemingly ended speculation over his future amid links to Tottenham Hotspur, by insisting he wants to stay at Juventus this summer.
The Brazilian was reportedly a target for Tottenham last summer (90 Min), after earning the title of Serie A’s best defender during the 2021/22 campaign. Bremer eventually opted to stay in Italy and left Torino for Juventus at that time.
Despite only being with the Turin club for a year, it seems Juventus would be willing to cash in on Bremer to ease their financial issues, and Tottenham would be interested in trying again to sign the centre-half (CalcioMercato).
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs would face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for Bremer this summer.
If any club does want to sign the powerful centre-half, it is thought Juventus would want a fee of €80m (£68.6m) for the player (TuttoSport 26/06/23 via Sport Witness).
Gleison Bremer wants to stay with Juventus
Regardless of whether any club would be willing to spend that amount on Bremer may be irrelevant now, as the player himself has made it clear he prefers to stay with Juventus.
Bremer told the print edition of Italian newspaper TuttoSport (31/07/23 via Fabrizio Romano): “Yes, it’s true Premier League clubs wanted me, but they can wait. I want to stay at Juventus.”
The 26-year-old added: “I’m here to win titles and I’m at the best club in Italy.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It will be interesting to see whether Juventus still look to push a sale for Bremer due to their financial position, but that looks unlikely now he has come out and spoken publicly about his desire to stay with the club. One would assume that is the end of the matter and Spurs will look at other targets instead.
