According to a report in TV Play (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are now showing ‘great interest’ in Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
Gimenez has been unstoppable in front of goal since the start of 2023 and the striker shows no signs of slowing down in front of goal, with his brace against Lazio on Tuesday taking his tally to 15 goals and three assists from 11 games across all competitions this season (Transfermarkt).
90 min reported at the start of this month that scouts from Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea had travelled to the Netherlands to watch the centre-forward in action this season, adding that they had been impressed by what they had seen.
It was subsequently reported by Fichajes two weeks ago that Real Madrid were also said to enter the Mexican international.
Spurs interest in Santiago Gimenez is now growing
TV play have now explained that while Gimenez was on Lazio’s radar in the summer, he is no longer considered a realistic target for the Serie A side, who the striker put to the sword at De Kuip on Tuesday.
The report asserts that the Premier League will be the 22-year-old’s s next destination, with the player alleged to have received ‘great interest’ from Tottenham.
The publication adds that Ange Postecoglou’s side are following Gimenez with ‘great attention’ and are ‘willing to accommodate’ him in their squad, with Feyenoord thought to value the striker at €45m-€50m (£39.2m-£43.5m).
Spurs Web Opinion
Gimenez’s displays in the Champions League will perhaps help convince interested clubs that he is capable of finding the back of the net at the highest level. There could well be a bidding war for his signature in January and at around £40m, he is well within Tottenham’s price range.
