Rosario Central coach Adrian Dezotti has told Tottenham Hotspur that Alejo Veliz has ‘incredible’ aerial ability, so much so that no other player in the Premier League can match the youngster.
Many Spurs fans were mourning the loss of Harry Kane this summer, when the talismanic striker left the club for Bayern Munich.
How Tottenham would fill the void left behind by Kane was a topic of hot debate, with intense speculation that the North London club would sign a new, high profile striker.
That never happened, with Alejo Veliz being the only forward brought in by Ange Postecoglou over the summer. A relatively unproven youngster from the Argentinian league was not exactly the kind of player Spurs fans expected to welcome to the club this season.
So far, we’ve seen Heung-min Son step up and deliver the goals the Lilywhites need to succeed. Veliz, meanwhile, has made two very brief substitute appearances and hasn’t had much chance to show us what he is capable of yet.
Is Veliz the best in the league at heading?
When he does get his big opportunity, we should be keeping a close eye on the deliveries into the box for Veliz. That’s according to his former manager, Adrian Dezotti, who told The Athletic Spurs now have one of the best headers of the ball in the Premier League.
He said: “I watch a lot of English football and there is no other Premier League player who has the aerial game that Alejo has. It’s incredible.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I can’t wait to see Veliz get some substantial time on the pitch, and I have a feeling that will come pretty soon. I think the youngster will really surprise a lot of people and hopefully he can make Postecoglou’s selection process even more difficult.
