According to Rob Guest, Spurs fans may be able to see more of Alejo Veliz in the coming weeks, as it appears the young striker has ‘impressed’ Ange Postecoglou in training.
The sale of Harry Kane this summer left a fairly substantial hole in the Tottenham attack. Losing a striker who can bag you 30 goals a season is never going to be desirable, but Spurs appear to be coping so far.
Heung-min Son has stepped up to the plate, as both club captain and the new primary source of goals. The South Korean has six goals so far this year (Transfermarkt).
Around him, the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Manor Solomon, and Brennan Johnson are fighting for a place in the starting lineup.
However, there is another attacker Spurs signed this summer who may be about to force his way into Ange Postecoglou‘s plans – Alejo Veliz.
Alejo Veliz could get his breakthrough soon
According to Rob Guest on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, we should not be surprised to see the 20-year-old taking to the field more often in the near future.
He said: “There’s young Alejo Veliz. We’ve seen a bit of him so far, more than we expected from him. It sounded like he would be a player who was adapting in the first part of the season and playing a part in the coming years.
“But, he’s clearly impressed Postecoglou behind the scenes and he’s gotten some minutes so far, he’s another one we could see a bit more of in the coming weeks.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I am just waiting for Alejo Veliz to explode. I really have a good feeling about him and I think he could be one of the big surprises for Spurs this season once he gets going.
