According to journalist Dean Jones, there is a chance that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Galatasaray forward, Kerem Akturkoglu, in the January transfer window.

The whole football world had eyes on Tottenham during the summer, as Harry Kane was linked with, and subsequently completed a big-money move to Bayern Munich.

In the wake of Kane’s departure, many suspected Spurs would look to replace him with a new striker. That didn’t happen, however, with Ange Postecoglou relying on his existing players to fill the void instead.

Richarlison was leading the line in the early stages of the season, but it is now Tottenham captain Heung-min Son taking on the number 9 role. As it stands, Son is doing a fine job of making Spurs fans forget all about Kane.

Son has seven goals so far this term (Transfermarkt), but that hasn’t stopped speculation linking the North London club with another forward in the January transfer window.

Could Spurs swoop for Akturkoglu?

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones revealed what he thinks about Tottenham’s reported interest in Kerem Akturkoglu, and said he wouldn’t be surprised to see a move come to fruition in the New Year.

He said: “They’re trying to scout quite a few players at the moment, Tottenham, that are just capable of adding another attacking edge to their team. So, there are plenty of reports out there suggesting that they are scouting [Kerem Akturkoglu].

“It is not one that I have heard personally but it would fit with exactly what I’m being told that they are looking for.

“They’re not looking for an out-and-out striker, they’re looking for another player that can go in and around that frontline… it’s certainly somebody to probably look out for, especially while Galatasaray are in the Champions League.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Akturkoglu has scored a few goals this season, including one against Manchester United in the Champions League. I can definitely see why Spurs would be keen, and if he continues to play the way he is, I think our interest will become firmer.
