According to a report in A Bola, the race for Tottenham target Pedro Porro is intensifying ahead of the January transfer window.

Antonio Conte is thought to be keen on overhauling his options at right wing-back when the transfer window opens in January (90 min).

Porro, who has established himself as Sporting Lisbon’s undisputed first-choice at right-back over the last 12 months, is one of the names thought to be on the North London club’s radar.

Jornal de Noticias were the first to report on Tottenham’s interest in the Spaniard a couple of weeks ago, with the publication explaining that the former Girona man will only be sold by Sporting if his €45m (£39.2m) release clause is met.

A Bola have now reported that while Spurs are at the front of the queue for Porro’s signature among Premier Lague clubs, Conte’s men could also face competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona, both of whom are thought to have an eye on the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, another Portuguese publication in Record have also provided an update on Porro’s future, stating that Sporting are reluctant to let the right-back leave in January and would prefer to sell him in the summer.

However, the publication explains that the Portuguese club’s hierarchy will meet with the player’s representatives in January to discuss his future.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham already have a young, up-and-coming right wing-back option in Djed Spence. So, I suspect Conte will want a more experienced operator like Denzel Dumfries for the former Middlesbrough man to learn from rather than another prospect like Porro, who is not yet proven at the top level.
