Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham could be aided in their rumoured pursuit of Pedro Porro by the good relationship the club have with the agency, CAA Base, who represent the Sporting Lisbon star.
Reports over recent weeks have indicated that Antonio Conte is keen on overhauling his options at right wing-back when the transfer window opens in January (90 min).
Porro, who has established himself as Sporting Lisbon’s undisputed first-choice at right-back over the last 12 months, is one of the names thought to be on the North London club’s radar.
Jornal de Noticias were the first to report on Tottenham’s interest in the Spaniard around a month ago, with the publication explaining that the former Girona man will only be sold by Sporting if his €45m (£39.2m) release clause is met.
Correio da Manha (10/12/22 via Sport Witness) backed up the Lilywhites’ interest in the 23-year-old a couple of days ago, and added that the Premier League club are ‘preparing to formalise’ an offer for the right-back.
Gold has now explained that Daniel Levy had had plenty of dealings with CAA base, who represent the Sporting star.
The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “I think Pedro Porro is CAA Base. Base are very connected with Spurs, do a lot of stuff with Spurs. I think they have James Maddison as well, which is why there’s been a lot of Maddison links.
“It would make sense in that respect from him. I know Daniel Levy has a lot of dealings with Base. So yeah, we’ll see what comes of that one.
“He’s another good young player and see whether that one comes to any kind of fruition. And if it does, what it means for those other players in those roles as well.”

I was quite impressed with Porro in both of Sporting’s Champions League clashes with Spurs this season. However, I do wonder what signing another up-and-coming right wing-back will mean for Djed Spence’s future.
Perhaps, Conte does not envision either Doherty or Emerson being at Spurs next season and perhaps wants Porro to compete with the former Middlesbrough man.
