Pedro Porro is in no doubt that Harry Kane is one of the best forwards in the world, remarking that the striker’s desire to help the team defensively sets him apart from the other top attackers.

The speculation linking Kane with a move to Bayern Munich shows no signs of slowing down, with Ben Jacobs taking to social media on Sunday to reveal that the Bavarians are preparing an improved £80m offer for the striker after seeing their opening offer turned down.

The journalist stated that the Bundesliga giants are hoping the 29-year-old pushes for an exit but as things stand, the player has not communicated his intention to leave to the Tottenham hierarchy.

Jacobs further explained that Ange Postecolgou is planning for the new season with Kane at the club and the Australian is expected to stress this in his talks with the centre-forward.

Pedro Porro is a big fan of Harry Kane at Spurs

Porro has only been at Tottenham for six months but the right-back has admitted that he has already seen how immensely important the centre-forward is to the club.

The Spaniard said in an interview with AS (as relayed by 90 min): “He is a leader, captain and reference. He has been offering great performance for many years, he has charisma and here he is an idol for the fans.”

When asked if Kane was one of the top three forwards in world football, Porro replied: “Of course. I wouldn’t doubt it for a second.

“Very few forwards offer the work and defensive commitment that Harry gives [a lot], apart from his enormous quality and his scoring. He is a ‘crack’.

“I have been in the team for a short time but long enough to realise how close he is with his teammates.

“From what I have spoken with him and what I have seen, I can say that he is also very great off the pitch.”

It was reported earlier in the summer that Real Madrid also had their eye on Kane (Marca) but it has emerged over the last few weeks that the La Liga giants have abandoned their pursuit of the superstar (talkSPORT).

When asked if the Tottenham man has the quality to do well for Los Blancos, Porro responded: “Great players like him adapt well to any situation. He has shown that he is a phenomenon.

“Besides, he already has a lot of experience. There’s a reason he’s the [vice] captain of Tottenham and the England team. A footballer always wants to have teammates like him by his side.”

Porro’s point about Kane’s humility off the pitch and his willingness to put the team first, are not just throwaway compliments.

The fact is that the top attackers in world football are generally selfish and often demand less defensive work so that they can maximise their impact in front of goal.

Spurs are lucky to have Kane as despite being one of the best players in the world, he is willing to do exactly what the manager asks of him and there is no sense of arrogance about him off the pitch.

It is hugely beneficial to dressing room morale when your best player is humble and does not seek special treatment.
