Pedro Porro has admitted that he is finding things much easier both on and off the pitch, now that he has had time to adapt to a new league and a new country.

While Porro did show plenty of promise going forward during his first six months at Spurs following his switch from Sporting Lisbon in January, the Spaniard struggled defensively at times and came in for some fierce criticism (Sky Sports).

The manager who signed the 23-year-old, Antonio Conte, departed just a few months after his arrival, but the right-back has remarked that he likes what Ange Postecoglou has brought to the table since arriving at the club.

Porro told Football.London: “At first I struggled with a few things and it was difficult, but I’m focused on my football and just have to keep working hard.

“For me everything since I’ve been here is new. Now the coach is new and we need to keep progressing and focusing on training and on the games. It’s a new manager so it’s different but I like it so let’s continue.”

Porro revealed that he is now much more comfortable in the new surroundings, admitting that the number of Spanish speakers at Tottenham has made it easier for him to settle in.

He continued: “Yes, basically I’m good now. I like the league, I like the new project and truly now I’m going to play better. I thought it was going to be hard to adapt and in the few first months that people talk about I did have plenty of difficulty. I had to change very quickly and I’m doing alright.

“It’s good because I feel a lot more comfortable, it’s easier for me to get along than the first few months. Also, there is Reggy, Cuti, Davinson, Eme [Royal], Gio and many players. Lots of Spanish speakers. The more I can communicate, the better I feel.”

Porro now faces plenty of competition for his place in the side, with Emerson Royal enjoying a strong start to the season and Djed Spence still at the club.

When asked about competing with the pair for the right-back spot, the former Sporting star responded: “I think it’s good for the team, we have to be very competitive and give 200%. I think it’s very good for the three of us to compete.”

It is evident that Porro is an effervescent character and quite a popular figure in the changing room. He will only get better as he gets more accustomed to English football, having shown plenty of promising signs towards the end of last season.
