Heung-min Son has admitted that he planned on checking his physical condition in South Korea training on Thursday.
The Tottenham forward was just named Premier League Player of the Month for September, but Ange Postecoglou has been managing his minutes throughout the season.
Son is often taken off with 15 to 20 minutes left on the clock, which was the case once again last weekend against Luton Town.
Heung-min Son is managing himself this season
While he jetted off for international duty earlier in the week, Son was only named on the bench for South Korea’s match against Tunisia today. Spurs will be thankful for that, seeing as the fixture was only a friendly.
Korea are due to play again on October 17 against Vietnam, but it is unclear whether Heung-min Son will start that match or not.
When talking about his fitness earlier in the week, Son told Donga: “I know many people are worried. I plan to participate in training today [Thursday]. I plan to check my physical condition through training. My condition is improving.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
Son is not as young as he once was, and the explosive nature of his game does historically lend itself to injuries once players get into their later years. Postecoglou and Son himself are doing a great job managing his minutes so far this season. It’s always best to be safe than sorry.
