According to a report in The Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Wigan Athletic over signing their highly-rated teenage midfielder, Alfie Devine.
The 15-year-old has been in terrific form for the Latics’ youth sides this season after being released by Liverpool, particularly starring in the club’s FA Youth Cup run, which included a 2-0 win over Spurs.
The young midfielder is thought of as one of the most promising midfield talents in his age group and his form has even seen him take to the field for Wigan’s Under-23s this season.
The report claims that Spurs are hopeful of completing a £500,000 deal for the England Under-16 midfielder this summer.
Wigan reportedly have no choice but to sell many of their promising assets after being put into administration.
It is asserted that Spurs are also looking to take advantage of the Championship side’s situation to land both Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir as well.
However, that might prove tricky for the North Londoners, with Weir said to be keen on completing a move to Brighton instead.

It is not really surprising that Levy wants to take advantage of Wigan’s situation and snap up a couple of talented youngsters on bargain deals. In fact, I believe we will see many young players from smaller clubs being poached by bigger clubs this summer, given the difficult financial situation clubs around Europe are in.
