Football Insider have claimed Tottenham Hotspur have wrapped up a deal to sign Wigan Athletic midfielder Alfie Devine and an announcement from the club is expected next week.

Devine has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over the last week as reports indicate that the North Londoners are looking to take advantage of Wigan precarious financial position to land the youngster on the cheap (Daily Mail).

The teenager is considered one of the best young midfield talents in the country, having already shone for England Under-16s.

Football Insider reveals that the 15-year-old has already passed his medical at Hotspur Way and put pen to paper with a scholarship contract with Spurs, which will be converted into a professional contract when he turns 17.

Despite having a £500,000 deal for the youngster wrapped up, it is claimed that Tottenham have not made an announcement since he will be heading to the club’s academy set up instead of the first-team squad.

However, the report asserts that an announcement on Devine is expected when the club announces a flurry of exits next week including those of first-team stars, Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm.

Going by how well highly thought of Devine is, this could potentially turn out to be a masterstroke for the club. Hopefully, he will be able to speed up his development working with the club’s academy coaches and make the transition to the first-team over the next few years.
