The transfer window has been open for less than 48 hours and Spurs have already completed their first signing.

Wigan Athletic have now confirmed that they have agreed on a deal with Tottenham for the transfer of Alfie Devine.

The 15-year-old is rated very highly, having impressed for Latics’ Under-18s this season, particularly shining in the club’s FA Youth Cup run.

The youngster, who has also impressed for England’s Under-16s, is thought of as one of the most talented young midfield talents in his age group across the country.

The transfer fee has not been disclosed but previous reports have indicated that the North Londoners will pay around £500,000 deal for the teenager’s signature (Daily Mail).

This news does not come as much of a surprise with multiple reports suggesting last week that the deal was completed and it was only a matter of time before the announcement would be made (Football Insider).

Devine now looks set to link up with Tottenham’s academy and the club will be hoping that it will not be too long before he will be threatening to break into the first-team picture.

This could potentially prove to be an extremely smart acquisition for us in the years to come, going by how highly rated Devine seems to be. However, it is usually hard to predict how young players’ development trajectory will be and only time will tell if he lives up to his potential.
