Both Eric Dier and Alfie Devine have been discussing the season ahead, and claimed Tottenham Hotspur will be one of the most exciting teams to watch in the forthcoming campaign.
It’s safe to say the 2022/23 campaign was one of the most miserable in recent history for Spurs fans.
The Lilywhites were poor all season, finished eighth in the league, and failed to compete in any of the cup competitions they were involved in.
Managerial upheaval didn’t help matters, but it has led to the appointment of Ange Postecoglou, who seems to have instilled a sense of positivity and belief around the club in the short space of time he has been in charge.
The Australian has promised Spurs fans attacking, exciting football will be on the menu once again in North London, something which was desperately lacking under Antonio Conte last term.
Spurs are going to entertain all football fans
Speaking to Sky Sports, Eric Dier and Alfie Devine offered fans even more hope for the upcoming campaign, and suggested Spurs will be a great team to watch for any fan of football.
Dier said: “I think we have a nice mixture at the moment in the squad. I think it’s exciting, because it is obviously a bit of a restart. A new manager, quite a few new players, too, so I think it’s going to be exciting because it’s a very different Tottenham to previous years.
“I know that for sure already, just by the way the manager wants to play. I think he wants to play exciting football, the kind of football that the fans – not just Tottenham fans, but any fans – will enjoy to watch. That’s something that is extremely exciting to be a part of.”
Devine added: “I think you can tell by the first game that we played, the football we are going to play and the pressing that we are going to do. I think we are going to be one of the most exciting teams to watch.”
On what has changed, Dier continued: “It’s a new way of working for us. I am really enjoying it, enjoying the training and the style of play that [Postecoglou] wants us to play.
“All of these things are really enjoyable, and the message that he’s putting across to us. It hasn’t been very long, but I’m really enjoying it so far.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is not necessarily about the players we have signed, though that has been promising, it’s more the style of play and approach to the game that is most exciting right now.
We have yearned for attacking football for a long time, and it finally appears to be back.
