In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham’s rumoured pursuit of Brennan Johnson, Sky Sports have revealed that Nottingham Forest do not wish to let the youngster leave mid-season.
After returning from his loan spell at Lincon City last campaign, Johnson has established himself as a regular in Forest’s starting lineup.
The versatile attacking midfielder, who can also play on either flank, has won several admirers with his performances in the Championship, scoring five goals and registering four assists so far this campaign.
The Sun reported last month that Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal hold an interest in the 20-year-old but Brentford were leading the race for the youngster.
Sky Sports have now revealed that Nottingham Forest have slapped a £20m price tag on Johnson’s head and told Brentford, as well as other interested clubs, that he is not for sale in January.
The Bees are thus alleged to have ended their interest in the 20-year-old for the time being. It is explained that Forest are keen to push for promotion to the Premier League and view Johnson as being vital to their hopes of doing so.

Even if Johnson was on Tottenham’s radar, I doubt the North Londoners would have been considering a January move. Conte has plenty of attacking midfield options at his disposal and will likely prioritise additions up front and in the backline this month.
