Richarlison continues to earn plaudits after his brilliant performance over the weekend, and now Arsenal legend Ian Wright has backed the Tottenham Hotspur man to get at least 10-12 goals this season.

Since joining Tottenham from Everton last summer in a reported £60m deal (ESPN), things haven’t always gone to plan for Richarlison.

Despite a promising start to last season, where the Brazilian scored two goals in the opening game of the Champions League, Richarlison had to wait until April of this year to get his next goal for the club.

This year, the 26-year-old has been tasked with filling the void left behind by Harry Kane. Many expected Richarlison to flourish with this newfound responsibility, but his early season form came under scrutiny.

The Brazilian found himself replaced in the centre-forward role by his captain, Heung-min Son for the last two games. However, Richarlison came off the bench to score a dramatic equaliser against Sheffield United at the weekend, before setting up Dejan Kulusevski for a stoppage-time winner.

How many goals can Richarlison score this year?

Commenting on Richarlison’s impact, and the potential he has in this new-look Spurs team, Ian Wright confessed he sees a positive season ahead for Richarlison and the rest of the Tottenham squad.

He told Premier League Productions (18/09/23 at 2:15 pm): “The way he has been managed to this point and you could see the backing he is getting from his teammates… If you can get Richarlison back to when he was flying at Everton, with Son playing how he is, Kulusevski playing like he is, Brennan Johnson when he starts to emerge, Maddison, Sarr, then Bissouma playing as good as he was at Brighton. Very stable at the back.

“You are looking at a team now that is very confident, and a player now if he can throw in 10-12 goals, which he is easily capable of doing Richarlison, now that his head is clear and everything. They are going to cause [huge problems].”

I really hope this can be the big turning point Richarlison needed and that he can push on from here and prove all his doubters wrong and get the rewards he deserves for his hard work.

On his day, he can be so dangerous, and this style of play we are using now seems to really suit him, too. I can definitely see him bagging at least ten league goals this season.
