Tottenham might have received a boost in their attempt to sign Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the Dane now becoming a client of Pini Zahavi.

Sky Sports reported in January that Spurs were keen on the Saints midfielder, who has been on the south coast since joining from Bayern Munich in 2016 for a reported transfer fee of £12.8million (BBC).

The Danish international has been one of the Saints’ most consistent performers in recent seasons and has established a reputation as one of the most reliable midfield anchors in the Premier League.

A move for the 24-year-old didn’t materialise in January, although Spurs did conduct business with Southampton, with Kyle Walker-Peters joining Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side on loan till the end of the season.

BT now reports that the former Bayern man has linked up with super-agent Pini Zahavi amid interest from Spurs, Arsenal and Everton.

Zahavi played a key role in the deals that brought Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier to Tottenham from PSG and so Hojdjerg’s move to appoint him might prove to be a boost for Spurs’ chances of signing him.

The midfielder’s contract reportedly runs out in the summer of 2021 and so he could be likely on his way out of the club this summer if he doesn’t sign an extension (Sky Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion

I have always been a fan of Hojbjerg and I believe he will be a very good fit for a Mourinho side. However, a lot depends on whether Eric Dier signs a new contract or not. If he doesn’t sign a deal, I can see the club selling him in the summer in which case, Hojbjerg will be a big upgrade.
