Jose Mourinho has spent almost three decades working in the game at some of the top clubs around Europe and it is not surprising that he has made some influential contacts.
Among the names that the Spurs head coach is well acquainted with is super-agent Pini Zahavi, who has facilitated many big-money transfers during his career.
Zahavi played a major role in the deal that saw Mourinho arrive at Chelsea for his first spell in 2004 and he once again was central to Tottenham’s acquisition of the Portuguese coach back in November (talkSPORT).
Zahavi’s good relationship with the Spurs boss could potentially be of great use to the North Londoners this summer as two of the club’s rumoured targets hired the Israeli agent to represent them recently.
Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha who has been linked with Spurs in the past hired Zahavi in March to help him look to exit Selhurst Park (Mirror), while another one of Tottenham’s targets, Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Telegraph) also linked up with Zahavi two months later (BT).
Time will tell whether Mourinho’s relationship with the Israeli will bear fruit for the North Londoners.
Spurs Web Opinion
We haven’t been linked with Zaha for a while now and it could be that clubs have realised there isn’t too much value for money in pursuing him. Hojbjerg, on the other hand, perfectly suits what we need and is the kind of player Mourinho likes. So, I would be really surprised if we didn’t pursue a deal for him particularly given that he is down to the final year of his contract.
