Harry Kane has this evening scored his fiftieth competitive goal for England after scoring from the penalty spot in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta to take his tally to 56 for his country.
Kane broke Wayne Rooney’s tally of 53 goals against Italy in March and earlier this week gifted his Three Lions team-mates with a unique memento to celebrate the feat, each player and manager Gareth Southgate received a mock up of a vinyl music record labelled ‘Harry Kane Record Breaker’. The disc’s ‘track listing’ features all 55 of Kane’s England strikes during his 82 caps prior to tonight’s match.
Kane – England’s record goalscorer
The 29-year-old has now scored in each of his last five matches for his country to further extend his record as England’s top goalscorer and continues to cement his name in history.
Kane‘s latest strike came from twelve yards out when he stepped up to fire the ball down the middle of the goal to extend their lead to 3-0 heading into the half-time break.
Records seem to fall every time the Tottenham Hotspur forward takes to the pitch and has become England’s first player to reach the half century tally in competitive fixtures.
