Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has used the international break to share a joke on social media in which he attempts to persuade James Maddison to join his club.
Maddison has already been the subject of much speculation this summer. Since Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League, it appears highly likely the 26-year-old will make the jump and remain in the top flight with another team.
It was reported earlier this month that Maddison had been made a ‘priority target’ by the new Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou (Telegraph).
Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in the midfielder and Sky Sports suggested the Magpies had moved into pole position in the pursuit of James Maddison.
Tottenham are believed to have made a double bid for Maddison and his Leicester teammate Harvey Barnes recently, worth a reported £50 million (Daily Mail). The Foxes are expected to reject that offer, however, it is thought Maddison’s preference is a move to London (Independent).
Wilson asks Maddison to join him at Newcastle
While Spurs may have made the first move in the hunt for Maddison’s signature, it seems Newcastle United have employed alternative methods to tempt the playmaker to St James’ Park.
Both Callum Wilson and Maddison are currently away on international duty as part of the England squad, and the former has taken to Instagram to send his teammate a very clear message about where he should be playing football next season.

Sharing a picture of himself grabbing hold of Maddison in training for the Three Lions, Wilson captioned the post “Newcastle is this way” and tagged the Leicester player.
Spurs Web Opinion
We had better tell Harry Kane to start whispering in James Maddison’s ear, as he is a player we should be doing everything to sign this summer.
I think Maddison would be better off choosing Spurs anyway, as he would be a shining star for us rather than getting lost in the machine at Newcastle.
