Tottenham academy starlet Dane Scarlett has been called up to the England Under-21s squad for the first time.
There is plenty of excitement around Scarlett, not only at Tottenham but also in the England youth ranks, with the striker being a regular part of the Under-20 and Under-19 squads over the past couple of seasons.
The 19-year-old was part of the side that won the Under-19 European Championship last year before representing the Under-20s at the World Cup during the summer.
Scarlett spent last season on loan at Portsmouth but after a bright start to his spell at Fratton Park, he faded away a bit in the second half of the campaign.

The striker will now get a crack at the Championship this term, having completed a deadline-day move to Ipswich Town.
Soon after completing his switch to Portman Road, Scarlett learned that he would link up with the Young Lions squad as they begin their European Championship qualification campaign.
England’s Under-21s, who now have a new head coach in Lee Carsley, will travel to Luxembourg on Monday, 11 September, for their group stage opener.

It is certainly an achievement for someone who turned 19 just a little while ago to be called up to the England Under-21s set-up, especially given the abundance of talent that the Young Lions could potentially call upon. Scarlett is unlikely to start against Luxembourg but he will be hoping to get an opportunity as a substitute.
