Alasdair Gold reveals that Alfie Devine has now been called up to train with England’s senior squad by Gareth Southgate.
Devine has looked a class above for Tottenham’s Under-21s over the past couple of seasons and has shone for England’s youth sides over the last few years, being part of the side that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship last year and featuring in the FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer.
The 19-year-old, who has trained with the first-team at Spurs quite regularly over the past two years, now has an opportunity to show what he can do in senior football, having joined Port Vale on loan.
The midfielder has made a promising start to his time at Vale Park, coming off the bench to pick up an assist and score a late match-winner from the penalty spot to guide the League One side to a 2-1 win over Oxford United on Saturday.
Alfie Devine trains with the senior England squad
Gold has now revealed that Devine has a chance to catch the eye of Southgate as he has been called up to train with the Three Lions squad alongside the likes of James Maddison and Harry Kane.
Big week for Alfie Devine. First that terrific performance for Port Vale, with a goal and assist, and now drafted in from the England U20s to train with the senior side under the watchful eye of Gareth Southgate. https://t.co/6UEIEsYYYb

Spurs Web Opinion
Devine has delivered every single time he has had the opportunity to take the step up to a higher level, which is why I have no doubt that he will take League One by storm this season.
I would not be surprised if Spurs recall the midfielder in January and loan him out to a Championship side for the second half of the campaign.
