Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur and could move across London this summer.

Gallagher is a product of the Chelsea academy and has shown great promise over the last couple of years in the Premier League.

The dynamic midfielder enjoyed a real breakthrough season with Crystal Palace last year during a loan spell. Gallagher scored eight goals and provided five assists in 39 appearances for Palace (Transfermarkt).

Chelsea opted to keep hold of Gallagher for the 2022/23 season, but a difficult campaign for the Blues left the England international with just three goals and one assist to his name (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham are known to be in the hunt for a playmaker to bolster their midfield and adapt to Ange Postecoglou‘s new system.

Leicester City’s James Maddison has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs (Telegraph) but the North London club face stiff competition to secure his signature.

Tottenham are interested in Conor Gallagher deal

Now, it appears Tottenham Hotspur are widening their net and could be ready to make a shock move for Conor Gallagher.

That’s according to Football.London, who build on their claims that Gallagher is set to leave Stamford Bridge with the suggestion that he could move between the London rivals.

Gallagher has been the subject of interest from Newcastle United, and while the lure of Champions League football may be favourable for the player, it is thought the Magpies are “looking at other options.”

The report adds that Tottenham “hold an interest” in Gallagher, and it is believed the fact he could stay in London would “work in Spurs’ favour” during negotiations.

Obviously, the idea of players switching between fierce rivals is not appealing, but Gallagher is a really talented player who could flourish in our side.

I would not be against this signing at all, especially if we miss out on Maddison.
