Football Insider have claimed that Chelsea are now ready to block the exit of Tottenham Hotspur target Conor Gallagher.
It has been widely reported over the past couple of weeks that Gallagher is one of the options on Spurs‘ radar to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is expected to complete a move to Atletico Madrid (Daily Mail).
It was even reported by The Telegraph last week that the Lilywhites had moved into pole position for the England international’s signature ahead of London rivals, West Ham United.
Chelsea do not wish to sell Conor Gallagher
However, Football Insider’s latest update has come as a blow to Spurs, with the outlet claiming that Chelsea are in no rush to sell Gallagher.
Despite the imminent arrivals of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia from Brighton and Southampton respectively, it is alleged that Mauricio Pochetitno feels his squad is too thin in certain areas.
The injury to Christopher Nkunku, in particular, is said to have complicated matters, with the Argentine coach thought to be willing to give game time to Gallagher.
The report adds that the 23-year-old himself is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place.
Spurs Web Opinion
If Gallagher wishes to stay at Chelsea, it might be impossible for Spurs to do a deal. The North London club might be hoping that the midfielder changes his mind towards the end of the transfer window if he continues warming the bench over the next couple of weeks.
